Additional Information: | Additional map codes are: 9/1. A two-story, tapestry brick, flat-roofed, early twentieth century, commercial-style building with handsome, geometric patterned brickwork, a shaped parapet and extensive cast concrete trim in the form of copings, string courses, and inset accent tiles in the brickwork. The second story has two banks of triple 3 over 1 wood sash windows, while the mostly original storefront is constructed of wood and full length plate glass. The transom has been covered with aluminum panels. This structure contributes to the significance of the College Avenue Historic District under criterion C as a representative example of an early twnetieth century commercial style building displaying the brick patterned facade and haped parapet characteristic of the style. Although the original plate glass storefronts appear to remain intact, the installation of aluminum panels in the transom/sign zone detract somewhat from the design integrity of the building by horizontally bisecting the facade. 2024: Resurveyed, not contributing to College Avenue Historic District. |
