Additional Information: | Additional map codes are: 8/36. A two-story, shed-roofed, brick Queen Anne style commercial building with an intact upper facade and a vertical board and plate glass storefront of unsympathetic modern design. The upper facade has two banks of paired one over one wooden windows with multi-paned Queen Anne sash transoms unified under pointed arched, brick, hood moulds. Above a corbelled arcaded frieze is a coved tin cornice embossed with a scalloped design. This structure contributes to the significance of the College Avenue Historic District under criterion C as a fine example of a Queen Anne commercial building. Although the present vertical board storefront detracts from the architectural integrity of this building, the intact upper facde displays exceptionally fine features, especially the pointed arched windows with their hood moulds and remarkable Queen Anne sash transoms and the handsome corbelled and arcaded frieze surmounted by a richly patterned tin cornice. 2024: Resurveyed, not contributing to College Avenue Historic District. |
