Additional Information: | This structure contributes to the significance of the East College Avenue Residential Historic District under Criterion C as an example of a large, architect-designed, Tudor Revival style house of the 1920's. The house was built with a fine matching brick two-car garage. The construction of this expensive brick house manifests the continued development of College Avenue into the 1920's when some older houses were removed as no doubt happened with the previous house on this site, to make way for big new houses while others were expensively remodelled and enlarged to reflect the high architectural standards of the city's most fashionable residential street. Related building: OU 35/9. This house was previously surveyed in 1991 and no visible exterior changes have occurred since then. Assessor's records indicate a 1930 date of construction; the house does not appear on a 1924 Sanborn and the earliest date this house appears in the city directory is 1930. The original owner was Casper R. Miller (1930 directory) and his wife Pauline. Casper was the vice president and secretary of the Miller Posting Service; Pauline was president and treasurer. |
