NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. From "Appleton's Historic Old Third Ward Walking Tour" pamphlet, revised 2014 (www.focol.org/oldthirdward): "This brick and limestone rectory designed by Charles Hovde replaces a frame structure. Father Walter Fitzmaurice, much loved pastor of the church, resided here for many years. He is believed to have been the inspiration for the priest in Edna Ferber's story Fanny Herself. (This building was razed in 2005.)" It appears that Wallace W. DeLong designed the addition, (probably the addition on the right side of the building) and the porch. Additional map codes are: 11/18. Related buildings: OU 39/24; modern garage; modern two-story parish center; modern grade school.
