From "Appleton's Historic Old Third Ward Walking Tour" pamphlet, revised 2014 (www.focol.org/oldthirdward): "Baldwin served as mayor of Chilton, County District Attorney and Probate Judge and was elected to the Wisconsin general Assembly and Senate. After moving to Appleton in 1885, he developed an extensive real estate business, investing in and developing parts of the Dakotas, Michigan, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin. The altar of St. Mary's Catholic Church is dedicated to the Judge. Sons Charles and George (621 W. Fourth St.) followed in their father's footsteps, managing the family's assets and practicing law. Descendants of Charles lived here until 1984." Garage. |
