The business was founded in 1902 by Richard Miller, grandfather of the present owners (06/1981). Initially the company concentrated on making tools to help farmers deal with hay, but gradually moved into manufacture of other tools.

The company reorganized and incorporated under its present name in 1914. At that time appleton could have been called the car mover capital of the world since there were 3 companies in Appleton.

The tools, which were patented designs, are hand operated railroad car movers. The major consumers of this product are companies located on railroad sidings that need to move cars a few feet for loading. The design has changed little over the years.

In addition to several different types of car movers, the company turns out safety car wrenches, pouring ladles, roller pry trucks for moving heavy crates, machinery and other bulky objects, springwinders, multi-power rippers and Hook-Kon spring looping tools.

The building measures 60' x 101', is of brick construction with a concrete foundation. It is in excellent condition.
