Additional Information:House overlooks the Fox River; wide steps lead down bluff at the rear of the house. This structure contributes to the significance of the East College Avenue Residential Historic District under Criterion C as an outstanding example of a mansion-scale Tudor Revival house exhibiting fine craftsmanship, quality materials and careful design. This costly, architect-designed mansion has been preserved with all of its important features intact. The Cotswold style slate roof is a rare and remarkable example of the slaters act. 2005-This house was last surveyed in 1993 and no visible exterior changes have occurred to the home since that time. the house was built by Gustavus Buchanan after residing previously at 739 E. College Avenue. Buchanan was the secretary/treasurer of the Appleton Wire Works, as well as the secretary of the Tuttle Press Co.
