Additional Information: | This is a two-story brick front-gabled house with a frame one-story side-gabled wing. The wing could predate 1859 (the windows are very tall, but the section has been altered); the front-gabled section appears to date from the 1860s or 1870s. The foundation is stone, the roofs are clad with metal, the windows are 1/1 aluminum replacements. The current owners are Dale and Barbara Nelson. 2015 - This c.1870 gable ell house has a rubble stone foundation and cream brick exterior. The two-story, symmetrical front gable portion features a wide, plain frieze board and contains two segmental arch window openings per floor, each fitted with a replacement one-over-one sash window. The window openings have wood sills and brick soldier course lintels. The north, side elevation also has two one-over-one windows per floor, but those on the second floor are half as tall. The one-story, side gable ell contains the front entry door, a replacement horizontal sliding window, and a replacement one-over-one sash window. A front porch is created by a shed extension of the roof of the ell, which is supported by square wood posts. The underside of the eaves of the house’s front and side gables have been filled with aluminum soffit panels. The rear of the house includes a one-story modern addition and large wood deck. Behind the house to the west are two c.1900 cottages (AHI #229977 and #229978). Each has a side gable roof, wood drop siding, and rests on corner piers. The property also contains a modern pole building/garage and the remains of a rubble stone foundation, likely from a former barn. |
