NOTES
Additional Information:Another example of an L-shaped residence although in this instance the long portion is only one story. The clapboard home features peaked window moldings and cutout work on the veranda.

This house has an L-shape plan with intersecting gable roofs. The front gabled portion is 2 stories and the side gabled wing is one story. Regular fenestration shows a d-w-w pattern on the wing and a w-w, w-w pattern on the upright. Windows are two-over-two. A scroll-cut trimmed porch extends across the wing, and a simple arched molding caps the windows. The house is sited on a wider lot, with two sheds situated at the back property line.

This Barland Street gabled ell is Eau Claire's finest exmaple of this vernacular form of housing. Possessing remarkable integrity, this house best represents a vernacular house form that had scattered appeal in this community because of the wide lot requirement. Other examples of the gabled ell exhibit unsympathetic alterations.
