Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. This is an example of a residence constructed in the Colonial/Georgian Revival manner. The two story brick dwelling is characterized by features typical of the style - a basically rectangular plan, a symmetrical facade with formal, central entry, and the use of classical ornamentation including a Palladian window, modillions, a small portico supported by fluted columns, and an elliptical fanlight and sidelights framing the main entrance. The foundation is made up of concrete and the roof is covered in asphalt shingles. The main facade is situated to the north. This house is excellent condition. HISTORICAL STATEMENT: In 1929, William A. Schwahn occupied the residence. Schwahn was the vice-president of the Schwahn-Seyberth Company which was a saddlery (SEE BIB. REF. B). 2016- "One of the finest examples of the Georgian Revival Style in Eau Claire, the Schwahn House exemplifies the characteristic features of the style and retains its original integrity. Schwahn was the vice-president of Schwahn-Seyberth, a saddlery that operated a large factory on Wisconsin Street. Schwah's father, William E. Schwahn, was well-known Eau Claire citizen, belonging to the Schuetzen Society where he was a celebrated rifleman." -"Eau Claire Landmarks: Designated Historic Properties in Eau Claire, Wisconsin", Eau Claire Landmarks Commission, P.O.
