Additional Information: | The original portion of this building (it is now enclosed by all the additions) was constructed in 1901 and was, according to the assessor's records, a "sawdust house". Presumably, the sawdust house was related to an ice making facility or it may have been a part of the Pioneer Furniture Company which was located nearby. During World War II, Peter's Meats acquired the property and initiated an expansion program with the complex reaching its present appearance by 1950. The building, which is situated on the west bank of the Chippewa River, is constructed of brick and concrete block. 2021 - Addition/renovation to the western facade of the building |
