It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. This residence located on the former site of the Eau Claire Driving and Athletic Association Race Track (see 1910 plat of Eau Claire County) is built in the Colonial/Georgian Revival manner. The brick, two story, rectangular structure is capped by a gable roof and features a symmetrical facade, three gabled dormers (the most common number found on buildings of this style), and a centered, classically detailed entrance accented by a small portico. The middle dormer window glass has been replaced with storm clear glass. The foundation is composed of concrete and the roof is covered in asphalt shingles. The main facade faces the north. This dwelling is in excellent condition. Similar residences are common in this area of Eau Claire. See 447 McKinley Avenue, 4P/12; 437 Lincoln Avenue, 4P/9; 429 Roosevelt Avenue, 4P/14. HISTORICAL STATEMENT: Dr. Nels Werner, a physician, is listed at this address in 1929 (See Bib. Ref. A). 2016- "The Georgian Revival style was commonly built in Wisconsin between 1900 and 1940 and represents an architecturally correct interpretaiont of the Georgian and Federal architecture of the American colonial period. Dr. Nels Werner, a local physician, hired Edward Hancock, a prominent local architect, to design the house.
