The Pound DNR Ranger Station is a two-story, multi-gabled rock-faced concrete block building. The building's south wall has an entry door and five overhead garage doors. The office/garage building was built c.1936. This one and a half story astylistic utilitarian ranger station features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a concrete foundation, a rock-faced concrete block exterior, a wood trim, and an asphalt shingled gable roof. Dormers intersect with the main roof in the attic story. The plastered and painted interior has concrete flooring on the first story and maple flooring on the second. The structure was built during the W.P.A. program. The roof and the siding are in fair condition; the building was last remodeled in 1946. The Pound Ranger Station is used as an office, as living quarters for the ranger and as storage for fire fighting equipment and hand tools. |
