Additional Information: | This two story frame vernacular house was built for Oscar Risberg around 1903. Oscar Risberg migrated to the area from Sweden as a boy, c.1889. Risberg was a farmer, and operated one of three small general stores in the unincorporated village of Lorain from about 1900 to 1916. He served as postmaster from 1905 until 1914. Risberg was also elected Town Supervisor (one of two) of McKinley Township in 1898 and 1899. He sold the farmstead to R.F. Curnow in 1926. The farmhouse retains good integrity. |
