Additional Information: | 2023: This 2-story astylistic industrial building was constructed c.1924 and c.1980 as the office and planing mill of the J.B. Laun Lumber Company. The building is comprised of a 1-story front-gabled office mass of frame construction (built c.1980 and remodeled after 1993) and a 2-story brick industrial mass that projects from the office building’s rear elevation (built c.1924). The office mass is clad in vinyl siding and features an asphalt-shingled front-gable roof with eave returns and decorative modillions; a stylized Palladian window and an entry sheltered under a cantilevered gable are located in the front (northwest) façade. A small semi-circular window is located below the gable. The windows, door, and all decorative features of the office wing were added sometime after 1993. The large brick building that projects from the rear of the office wing features a flat roof and rows of segmentally-arched window openings along the side elevations at the first and second stories. Two segmentally-arched doorways are also located at the first story with one segmentally-arched doorway at the second story. All visible windows have been replaced by rectangular single-pane windows. |
