| Additional Information: | THIS TWO STORY FRAME HAS A BRACKET DECORATED HIP ROOF, PENETRATED BY A FRONT FACING ROOF DORMER THAT IS ALSO DECORATED BY BRACKETS UNDER THE BROAD EAVES. STYLIZED DENTIL TRIM AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE FACADE AND ROOF OF THE HOUSE, THE FULL LENGTH CLASSICAL INSPIRED FRONT PORCH AND THE RECTANGULAR BAY WINDOW. THERE IS A SMALL EXTENSION AT THE REAR. THIS SEARS AND ROEBUCK DESIGN (A REVERSE PLAN OF "THE AUBURN") WAS CONSTRUCTED BETWEEN 1917 AND 1920. 2025: This two-and-one-half-story, American Foursquare house was constructed in 1920. According to the WHPD record, it is likely the reverse plan for the Sears & Roebuck “Auburn” design. It has a square plan, vinyl cladding, and a concrete foundation. The hip roof is covered with asphalt shingles, and has wide eaves with dentil and bracket details, a hip dormer on the front (east) facade, and exterior chimneys on each side (north and south) elevation. The facade has a full-width, hip-roof porch that wraps around to the side (north) elevation. The porch has been restored to reflect its historic appearance and features dentils, brackets under the eaves, and curved balusters in the railing. A small, hip-roof box bay and a storm cellar entrance are located on the side (south) elevation. The windows are replacement vinyl, fixed and one-over-one, hung sash units. Alterations include the replacement windows and siding. The Sears, Roebuck, and Company catalog offered close to 450 mail-order home models across the country between 1908 and 1940. The models included the necessary materials and specifications, and the homeowner was responsible for constructing the home or hiring a contractor to assemble it. |
