Additional Information: | Raze order approved by the DHP on 11/29/2000. This two and one half story frame house features narrow lap siding, a wood shingled trim and a gabled roof. The building is an intact example of the Greek Revival style. Characteristics of the style include full pedimented gable ends, a denticulated cornice, corner pilasters, and a front entry door with sidelights and a transom window. The residence is in excellent condition. It is architecturally significant because it represents a type, period, or method of construction, and it is a visual landmark in the area. Chalres W. Lamb owned the dwelling in 1981. Historical Statement: This house was built in the early 1850s for T.C. Sleeper. (See Bib. Ref. A, B). The second owner was Hercules W. Perrigo, a native of New York State. In the 1860s he moved to Rock County where he farmed. In 1885, he returned to this residence. The building is historically significant because it is associated with the lives of significant persons. |
