Additional Information: | On February 9, 1909, 18 members formed the Ed C. Gottry Lodge, No. 170, of the Knights of Pythias. The lodge received its charter the following June. Several years later on April 18, 1918, the Pythian Sisters followed suit and created their own organization. The Pythian Temple was constructed to hold all members of the organizations, which had grown to more than 200 people. Another organization that frequently used the space was the Ludington Guard Band (one of the oldest performing bands in the state); they would used the upper level for practices. The building cost $24,000 to build. |
