Additional Information: | 1976: S SIDE OF MAIN ST, 250' E OF PROSPECT ST 2021: This two-story Italianate style house stands on the south side of Main Street east of Prospect Street in the village of Montfort. It was previously inventoried in 1976. It has vinyl lap siding and asphalt roof. The house is nearly a Gabled Ell in form, but its front-facing bay is square and exhibits Italianate features. It has a low-pitched hipped roof with brackets beneath the wide eaves. A gabled top has been added to the previously flat center of the roof, giving an appearance of a monitor roof. Its primary façade is comprised of two bays; the asymmetrical first floor has a door with transom offset by a large picture window. The second floor has two sash windows. The side Ell extension is slightly recessed from the primary façade and has a doorway with transom and single sash window on the first floor. Overhead, the second floor is comprised of a mansard roof, which is fenestrated with one gabled dormer on front, and two along the side. Vinyl coping wraps the parapet around the rooftop’s perimeter. An open porch with hipped roof and column posts spans the front of the house. A small one-story-and-basement addition is set off the west wall and a modern gabled garage stands east of the house. Although the façade’s picture window, the entry’s transom, and few other two-over-two sash windows have been retained, several others have been replaced with modern sash frames. The inventory photograph indicates that since 1976, the original window surrounds, and several windows have been replaced. |
