Additional Information: | Date of construction is pre-1915. The Adam P. Schewe House is significant under Criterion C as a good example of vernacular residential architecture in Merrill, and as a contributing resource in the East Main Street Residential Historic District. This house, though likely built shortly prior to the turn of the century, was occupied by Adam Schewe as early as 1915. Schewe was the manager of the Merrill Candy Company, whose candy processing plant was a few blocks west on E. Main Street. Schewe lived at this address as late as 1945. |
