NOTES
Additional Information:The Tillie Krause House is significant under Criteron C as a good example of vernacular residential architecture with Gothic Revival influence in Merrill, and as a contributing resource in the East Main Street Residential Historic District.

In 1915 Tillie Krauss was listed as living with her husband E.G. Krauss at 1024 1/2 Main Street. Apparently he died and she moved, as she is listed at this address from 1921 to as late as 1945, apparently taking in tenants, as non-family members also resided at this address.

2001-
2-story vernacular, side gabled house. Frame construction, sheathed in clapboard, resting on a concrete foundation that may have been refaced some time after its orig. construction.

Gable ends feature decorative brackets and trusses.

Fenestration is symmetrical, an all windows are 2-over2 double-hung sash.

A protruding gable is prominent on the facade, with schoolwork vergeboards in the gable end. A gabled porch is located onthe front facade with decorative brackets and simple wood posts. The porch is not original and ay have been added or altered in the 1920s.

Although vernacular in design, elements of the Gothic Revival style are evident in the vergeboards and decorative trusses.
