Additional Information: THIS THEATRE STRUCTURE OF "SPANISH ATMOSPHERE" STYLE HAS A MOULDED CONCRETE FACADE FEATURING A CENTRAL, ROUND ARCHED PARAPET AND A SWAG ORNAMENTED FRIEZE AND CORNICE, WITH CAPPED CONCRETE PIERS. A RECESSED ENTRANCE AND TICKET BOOTH FURTHER CHARACTERIZES THE SMALL MOVIE "PALACE." ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: AS THE MOST RECENTLY BUILT STRUCTURE IN THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT, THIS STRUCTURE IS IMPORTANT TO THE ARCHITECTURAL VARIETY OF THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT AS AN EXAMPLE OF THE 20TH CENTURY HISTORIC REVIVAL STYLE. HISTORIC BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE: THE AVALON THEATRE ON MAIN STREET WAS BUILT BY WILLIAM TRACY IN 1930. F. L. SCHROEDER OF FOND DU LAC WAS THE CONTRACTOR. LIVERMORE, BARNES AND SAMUELSON WERE THE ARCHITECTS. (SEE BIB. REF. A). TODAY, THE BUILDING IS OCCUPIED BY AVALON THEATRE, JR'S NOVEL "TEES," AND HOUSE OF BERNARD ALLEN.
