NOTES
Additional Information: THIS FRAME, TWO-STORY HOUSE FEATURES A GABLE ACCENTED HIP ROOF THAT IS INTERSECTED BY PEDIMENTED GABLE ROOFS PROJECTING OVER RECTANGULAR BAYS AT THE FRONT, EAST AND WEST SIDES. CHAMFERED CORNERS ON THE FIRST STORY OF THE EAST AND SOUTH BAYS ARE DECORATED WITH BRACKETS. SHINGLES ADORN THE FLARED UPPER STORY AND APPEAR IN THE OPEN GABLED END. STAINED GLASS AND AN UNUSUALLY-SHAPED LUNETTE WINDOW FURTHER ACCENT THIS VERNACULAR STYLED HOUSE. A TWO-SIDED, ROUND CORNERED PORCH IS CROWNED ABOVE BY A SMALL ROUND BALUSTRADED DECK. MARKING THE PORCH ENTRANCE IS A PEDIMENTED GABLE ROOF, WHICH IS DESIGNED WITH GROOVED, FLARED, SQUARE COLUMNS AND FILLED IN RAILINGS. A HIPPED ROOF EXTENSION IS AT THE REAR.

A FRAME CARRIAGE HOUSE WITH A CLIPPED GABLE ROOF INTERSECTED BY A SMALL GABLE ROOF PLACED AT THE CENTER FRONT OF THE STRUCTURE COMPLETES THE 19TH CENTURY SETTING OF THIS QUEEN ANNE STYLED HOUSE. THE ORIGINAL DOORS OF THIS CARRIAGE HOUSE WERE REPLACED BETWEEN 1983 AND 2005.

Both the house and the carriage house were listed as contributing on the NRHP ref #07000710 on 7/19/2007.

THIS DWELLING WAS CONSTRUCTED FOR ROBERT W. BROWN IN 1897-898. (SEE BIB. REF. D). PREVIOUS OWNERS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: GEO. ORPUT IN C 1910, FRED WEINBERGEN FROM 1918 TO AN UNKNOWN DATE, ELLA KIRKPATIRCK LORY FROM C 1931 TO 1940, AND SANDER FROM C 1950 TO 1970. (SEE BIB. REF. A, B, C). THE CURRENT (1983) OWNER OF THIS DWELLING IS DENNIS CARDIN.

ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE:

THIS HOUSE IS ARCHITECTURALLY SIGNIFICANT TO THE COMMUNITY AS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF THE VERNACULAR QUEEN ANNE STYLE MAINTAINED THROUGH THE YEARS IN ITS ORIGINAL 19TH CENTURY STYLE AND SETTING.

THE FRONT PORCH AND A PORTION OF THE MAIN FACADE OF THIS HOUSE WAS BADLY DAMAGED BY A FALLING TREE IN 2005.
