Additional Information: THIS FRAME, TWO-STORY HOUSE HAS AN EXTERIOR MADE UP OF VARYING WIDTHS OF CLAPBOARD. A FOUNDATION OF CUT STONE GIVES THE DWELLING A FEELING OF PERMANENCE. THE TRUNCATED HIP ROOF IS INTERSECTED BY A GABLED EXTENSION TO THE NORTH, A CONICAL ROOFED, SHINGLED, THREE STORY "CANDLE-SNUFFER" TOWER ON THE SOUTH, AND A CENTRAL CHIMNEY. A TWO-SIDED, DECKED PORCH SUPPORTED BY TUSCAN COLUMNS, LEADED GLASS, WINDOW CORNICES, A HIPPED ROOF STAIRWAY BAY ON THE NORTH, AND A GALBED EXTENSION AT THE REAR ARE ADDITIONAL FEATURES FOUND IN THIS LARGE HOUSE INFLUENCED BY THE QUEEN ANNE STYLE.

PREVIOUS OWNERS OF THIS C. 1900 RESIDENCE WERE R. SEELEY, WHO OWNED IT FROM 1900 TO 1919 AND KARL BAREIS, WHO OWNED IT FROM 1919 TO 1940. (SEE BIB. REF. A). THE CURRENT OWNER OF THIS HOUSE IS SCOTT CAIRY, SR., WHOSE ADDRESS IS PARKVIEW TERRACE, N. WATER STREET PLATTEVILLE, WI. 53818.

ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE:

THIS HOUSE IS ARCHITECTURALLY SIGNIFICANT TO THE CITY AS ONE OF TWO VICTORIAN HOUSES WITH CONICAL ROOFED TOWERS TO REMAIN IN PLATTEVILLE FOR THE MOST PART IN ITS ORIGINAL STATE. THE OTHER IS GT 1-12.

THIS HOUSE WAS BUILT AFTER 1896 AND IT HAS HAD A LARGE GABLE-ROOFED ADDITION ADDED TO ITS REAR ELEVATION BETWEEN 1983 AND 2005.
