Additional Information: | Concrete stucco and wood are the exterior fabrics on these buildings. The roof is flat and there is a shingled awning on the front. The entries are stepped back. Alterations have destroyed the integrity of this building. It has no architectural significance. In 1887 this was the site of 2 buildings to the north was a 1 1/2 story frame building with shingled roof that was a bakery and confectioneers. The south building was vacant, one story of brick veneer and slate roof. A cigar and billiard establishment was here by 1892. Destroyed in the cyclone, it was erbuilt as 2 one story brick buildings with slate roofs. Both has saloons. By 1912 the north building sold dry goods, boots, and shoes and clothes. A kitchen space is new or rebuilt buildings was here (north part) by 1927. The south building was divided now and had a composite roof. The developments of these buildings are similar to the rest of the business areas and it has no significance. Swenbys was established in 1919 and located elsewhere. It moved to 231 South Knowles soon (see SC 24-27). Next it was at 109 South Knowles (see SC 25-6). The facades were redone in 1972. |
