Background: "The central sun around which the whole (shop) system revolves" was the old Store House. The complex's base point for general supplies and materials, the Store House also served as the headquarters where detailed work orders were disptached. The north end of the second floor provided space for offices, including that of the Master Car Builder.d An iron clad castings warehouse was added to the building's north side around 1904, but has since been removed.
