| Additional Information: | The F in the photo codes is for Fox Canal Survey. This structure contributes to the significance of the Broadway-Huron Street Historic District under criterion C as a modest example of a frame, commercial vernacular late Victorian retail building. The original wood siding is now covered in asphalt shingles. This building was built around 1890 and it housed a grocery store which was operated by G.E. Stubbe. It remained a grocery store until the early 1900s when it was converted into a confectionery. The 1915-1916 City Directory lists a Mrs. Clara McDonald under "Confectionery" and the 1947 edition lists "Huebner Confectionery" at this address. |
