| Additional Information: | Resurveyed November 2012; no visible changes. This astylistic utilitarian agricultural outbuilding was constructed c.1860 as part of the Matz Farmstead. It is rectangular in plan with stone walls and a metal-clad gable roof. The south elevation contains a small, square window near the ground level and a larger, rectangular window opening above. The larger opening is covered by a louvered wood panel. The east elevation contains a central pedestrian door flanked by small, 6-pane windows. Above these are two rectangular window openings that have been covered with louvered wood panels. The outbuilding is built into a rise so that the west elevation is significantly shorter than the east; a single pedestrian door of board construction is located in the center of the west elevation. The building is currently located within the Halfway Prairie Wildlife Area (Dane County Parks). |
