Additional Information: | The pressed metal cornice and one early if not original storefront (North) are of some interest in this vernacular, double commercial block. Substantial changes to the second story windows of both halves have seriously compromised the original architectural interest of this building. It is, however, contyributive to the significance of the District as an element of an intact blockface. It is similar in appearance to the adjacent building 22-30 N. Third 3-10 Cedar in 1911. Both 22-30 and 12-20 N. Third were probably constructed at the same time and by the same builder. There is a masonry joint at the party-wall separating the two structures but there is none dividing the bays within each half of what may, originally, have been a four-unit commercial block. Surveyed in 1982/updated survey card in 2005. |
