Additional Information: | This early, double commercial block has an ornately detailed brick cornice and brick hood-moulds over the second story windows of the Northern Half. The upper story windows and both storefronts have been substantially modified and, for this reason, this large corner building has lost much of its original architectural integrity. It does contribute to the architectural significance of the District, however, in that it is an important corner element of an intact blockface. The Sanborn Maps show this building as vacant when it first appeared in 1891. This is an indication that it may have just been completed or still under construction. Surveyed in 1985/updated survey card in 2005. |
