Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. This large, late Queen Anne style house is an "Ell" in plan with an octagonal tower filling the void between the two legs. Clad with both plain and fancy butt shingles on the gables and the upper level of the tower. Details of note are the pyramidal tower roof capped with a slender finial. The use of classical detailing including Palladian motif windows at the gables, and the large wrap-around porch that is supported by wood columns with a shallow pediment over the entry. This larger older building is of architectural interest as an example of a once locally common architectural style. Until recently, this building was the headquarters for the Sturgeon Bay Knights of Columbus Organization. Aluminum siding removed and house restored to original fabric (2000). Front gable guest cottage moved to property in 1983. |
