NOTES
Additional Information:Original occupants of this business block were Bennett and Bostwick Dry Goods, Tallman and Collins Drug Store, and John I. Spafford Dry Goods. As of 1860, Treat and Gregory, physicians and surgeons, occupied the floor above Tallman and Coolins. The block also contained the assembly room of the Janesville Sack Co. #1, the "empire cash store" of John J. Stafford, and the office of Dr. Henry Palmer. "Ensign H. Bennett and New Yorker J.F. Clapp erected this Greek Revival block for $12,000. Simple stone lintels and sills are original features of the facade, and the Botswick storefront is a turn-of-the-century survivor."
