Additional Information: | Basically, this is an American Foursquare style house with classically derived detailing and other characteristics--such as the gabled central bay--that throw back to the "Princess Anne" style. The hipped roof, symetrical plan, and broad porch are all characteristics of the basic foursquasre. Of narrow guage clapboard and with shingling on the upper portions of the central bay, this 2 1/2 story house show ornateness only in the detailing of the porch, with the eaves forming an entablature accented by triglyphs and supported by fluted wood columns. The porch railing is supported by turned balusters. A side porch with similar detailing and topped with a balustrade is lcoated on the east facade. This building is a good example of an early 20th century building style. |
