Additional Information: | An athletic field was begun here in 1912. In 1936 the granite wall was erected as part of a WPA project. "Early Wausau professional baseball and semi-professional football teams played here, as do today's Wausau Timbers. A bronze plaque above the corner entrance commemorates the building of the seven-foot-high granite wall under a WPA program during the Great Depression." City in the Pinery, A Guide to Wausau's Historic Architecture, The City of Wausau, 1984. |
