Additional Information: | Was called Anderson Apartments until at least 1969. Racine Frank Lloyd Wright and Prairie School Architecture Tour Guide: "This four-family building with Prairie styling is the only one of its kind in Racine. Built as an investment by Justus Anderson, a carpenter, it is a late example that recalls, in much smaller scale and shallower detail, the design for Carl Schurz High School (1908) in Chicago by Dwight Perkins (1867-1941). The steep pitch of the gabled roofs, the warm tone of the brick, and the pattern of piers along the sides and front evoke, if only faintly, Perkins' much earlier design." |
