Additional Information: | This 2-story building is frame with a gable roof and falsefront. The original clapboards are covered with aluminum siding and cornice detail has been removed. There is a box bay window on the second floor, but the first floor has new windows and a cement block one-story addition to the south. Although the building's original appearance has been significantly compromised by the siding and removal of details, its scale and design complement other structures in the downtown and is contributing to the district (except for the addition.) Originally this building was a one-story structure housing a harness shop in 1894, and confectionary store in 1900. By 1910 the building was expanded to a second floor and was a barber shop. In the 1930's a restaurant was operated here and this type of business has existed to the present time. 2020: the entire building has been re-sided with vinyl and new, larger windows installed. |
