Additional Information: | This two story Commercial Vernacular building is constructed of red bricks. It has a pressed metal cornice decorated with dentils and brackets. It sits above a row of brick corbelling. The upper story windows are single light doubl hung sashes with tall jack arches and stone sills. The storefronts have been remodeled, and one is enclosed with stucco and wood trim. A shingled overhang spans the transom of two storefronts. The third storefront has a metal overhang with large sign attached to wood panels. The two storefronts not totally enclosed have modern show windows and recessed entrances. This building has some architectural interest as an example of the Commercial Vernacular style. This building has had two long time businesses, the John Haensgen hardware store and the Michael washbursh grocery store. Other businessess in this block include a flour and feed store, a cigar store, a barber shop, and a candy store. |
