NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. This one and a half-story astylistic utilitarian ranger station features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a concrete foundation, a concrete block (artificial stone) exterior, a wood trim, and an asphalt shingled gable roof. Dormers intersect with the roof in the attic story. Multipaned bungalow windows are also part of the architectural design, as is a five-stall garage. The finished interior includes paint and plaster, concrete flooring in the basement and first stories, and maple flooring on the second story. This structure is in excellent condition. The Babcock Ranger Station has an apartment which was not occupied in 1950. Since its date of construction in 1938, the station has been used as a sub-ranger station and as a storage facility of fire fighting tools. Other structures related to this building include a storage facility and a retaining wall. (See Map Codes 10/6, 10/7, AHI 55878, 55879). An old ranger residence, built around 1928, was sold and moved in approximately 1985.
