THIS TWO STORY, COMMERCIAL VERNACULAR BUILDING FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, A COMBINATION BRICK AND STONE EXTERIOR, A STONE TRIM AND A FLAT ROOF. THE STRUCTURE HAS BEEN REMODELED TWICE IN ITS HISTORY, IN 1891 (SEE BIB. REF. B). AND FROM 1900 TO 1908 (SEE BIB. REF. C). IT UNDERWENT A RESTORATION FROM 1978 TO 1979 (SEE BIB. REF. D), IN WHICH THE WEST-FACING BRICK FACADE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO ITS FORMER CONDITION. SIX OVER SIX WINDOWS APPEAR ON THE SECOND STORY, AND CAST IRON ORNAMENTATION APPEAR ON THE STOREFRONT. THE WINDOW LINTELS AND THE QUOINS ON THE CORNERS OF THE BUILDING ARE COMPOSED OF WHITE STONE. THIS BUILDING, CONSTRUCTED IN 1868 (SEE BIB. REF. A), IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

A. JENKINS WAS THE INDIVIDUAL ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FORMER HOTEL IN 1871. (SEE BIB. REF. A). KNOWN HISTORICALLY AS THE GLOBE HOTEL, IT CONDUCTED BUSINESS AS SUCH FROM 1868 TO 1929. (SEE BIB. REF. A). RELATED TO THIS BUILDING IS THE GLOBE HOTEL ADDITION LOCATED AT 225 COMMERCE (IA 55/10) AND 223 COMMERCE (IA 55/9).

2012- "Josiah Tyack had the original hotel, made of logs, on this site; he was one of the earliest settlers in Mineral Point and one of the first from Cornwall. In 1868, Alfred Jenkins replaced the log building with this one, which then served as the Globe Hotel for the next 65 years. Jenkins' wife, Elizabeth Terrill Jenkins, apparently had a family connection with the Tyacks as the 1850 census lists her as a member of the household of Josiah Tyack. The 1860 census lists the Tyack children, Catherine, Josiah, and Mary as living with Alfred and Elizabeth Jenkins at this site; Alfred is listed as a hotel keeper.

Owners of the Globe Hotel, in addition to Alfred Jenkins, were Nicholas Schillen and William Stude. The building was restored in the 1970s using old photographs as a guide. The Mineral Point Clinic now occupies the building."
