NOTES
Additional Information:#650: Garage.

This house is one of the finest examples of Queen Anne architecture in the City. The house has highly irregular massing on what is essentially a rectangular base. The main roof is hipped with a small hipped roof dormer projecting at each corner. In addition, two large gable dormers are found at the center of each side of the roof. A two story tower with conical roof rises through the main roof structure. All structural members rising above the main roof line are shingle sided.

The main roof overhangs the second floor and is supported by an inverted buttress at each corner. The two side facades feature relatively shallow polygonal bays while that on the front is more pronounced and shares that facade with the rounded tower. Except for a shallow bay on the front, first floor facades are plain. The house features a full width veranda with rounded corner area with conical roof. A summer porch projects to the rear.

This house represents one of the finest examples of the higher Queen Anne style in the city. Its irregular massing is unusual and such interesting features as the complex roof arrangement, conical tower an veranda make it stand out as a excellent example of the style. It is also an intact example of the residential work of local architect William J. Raeuber who has also been noted for his design of larger commercial buildings such as the 1927 Manitowoc Savings Bank (MN52-23).
