NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Very fine example of the Italianate style featuring a low hip roof with overhanging eaves. Wide wooden cornice line features wooden panels. All the windows in the original block have segmental arch hood moldings with keystones and 2/2 light windows. A more recent neo-classical era front porch with Tuscan columns, shed roof supported by brackets and a pediment with carved laurel wreath motif. A rear brick family room addition with deck has also been added keeping, in general, with the basic design of the house. The significance of an example such as this is lessened somewhat by the addition of the rear section; however, the Paine house is one of the finer examples of the Italianate style in the Union Park District. Garage is also on site.
