Additional Information:THIS TWO AND A HALF STORY QUEEN ANNE STYLED RESIDENCE FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A (RUSTICATED) LIMESTONE FOUNDATION, A CLAPBOARD EXTERIOR, A WOOD TRIM AND AN ASPHALT SHINGLED HIP AND GABLE ROOF. PROJECTING FROM THE MAIN ROOF IS A GABLED DORMER; IT IS DESIGNED WITH SHINGLES IN THE OPEN GABLE END AND TINY COLUMNS WHICH FLANK THE WINDOW. A TWO STORY TURRET WITH A CONICAL ROOF IS VISIBLE AT THE CORNER OF THE FACADE. AN APPLIQUED WAFFLE PATTERN IS RENDERED IN WOOD ON THE TURRET. THE WRAP-AROUND FRONT PORCH HAS ITS FLAT ROOF SUPPORTED BY WROUGHT IRON POSTS. THIS RESIDENCE IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

INDIVIDUALS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DWELLING AND THE DATES OF THEIR ASSOCIATION INCLUDE: ERNEST C. FIEDLER, FROM 1910 TO 1915; AND KATHERINE GREENWOOD IN 1925. (SEE BIB. REF. A). Fiedler's son, John, was an actor and starred with Henry Fonda in "Twelve Angry Men" and later in the "Bob Newhart Show." His younger son, George, became a judge and wrote Mineral Point, A History, in 1965. [I]


Plans came from an 1893 mail order catalog by architect D.S. Hopkins of Grand Rapids, MI. Nearly identical to the Ulrich Von Wald House at 1219 Ash Street in Baraboo.
