NOTES
Additional Information:Historical Background:

Otto Wills pruchased the lot from Hamilton and Jane Salsich on July 3, 1915 for $1,800. Wills was the railroad's express telegraph agent for Hartland throughout the 1920s. (See Bib. Ref. B, C). Otto Wills was associated with this residence from 1916 to the 1920s.

Historical Significance:

No evidence has been found to suggest that this property is historicaly significant.

Description:

The Otto H. Wills House is located at 400 East Capitol Drive in Hartland's East Capitol Drive in Hartland's East Capitol Drive Historic District. Built in 1916 (see Bib. Ref. A), the one and one half story stucco bungalow is dominated by a wide-eaved, multi-gable (or hip) and asphalt shingled roof with simple brackets, accented by hipped dormers, and is set on a concrete foundation. A one-story gabled screened entrance porch marks the main entrance. The interior has suffered little alteration and retains much of the original woodwork. In May of 1985, the residence was owned by John F. Studnicka.

Architectural/Engineering Singificance:

The Wills House is a contributing structure in the district, but is not individually architecturally significant. It is representative of the many bungalows in Hartland, and the best of four bungalows in the district, retaining excellent architectural integrity.
