NOTES
Additional Information:This two and one-half story Queen Anne house had a steeply-pitched hip and gable roof with several projecting gable sections. The house is covered with clapboards and wood shingles and other wood trim covers the gables. A two-story bay projects from the front gable projection. It features a second story balcony with steeply-pitched gable roof and stickwork balustrade, brackets, frieze and posts. The gable-roofed overhang that covers the main entrance features a balustrade in a cut-out pattern.

The irregular plan of the house, with the fancy gable trim, and stickwork on the second floor balcony are typical and interesting details of the style.

This was the home of William Rowe between 1895 and 1907. He was a real estate agent. Between 1909 and 1934, this was the home of Jay and Blanche Homan. Jay Holman was an executive in a candy factory. This house is not historically significant at this time.

Bowe wrote a testomonial to George F. Barber on February 17, 1896 and stated:

"Gentlemen --Yours of the 21st at hand, and in reply am pleased to state that the plans, details and specifications which you drew for me in the summer of 1891, proved entirely satisfactory in every respect.

My builder experienced no difficulty whatever in following your drawings, and the accuracy of your details and simplicity of your methods made the matter of building exceedingly easy.

Thanking you for past favors, I remain.

Respectfully yours,
W.H. Bowe
Real Estate and Insurance Agent."
