A heavy wooden entablature also severs a lintels for the second floor front and rear facades. The house is set back from the street and approached by a circular drive. Elias Gunnell was the first President of the Manitowoc Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, which became the Manitowoc Company. As an inventor, he also developed several other projectsmanufactured by the Gunnell Machinery Company also founded by Gunnell, West and the other founders of the Manitowoc Company.
