It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. CUPOLA WAS ORIGINALLY TALLER AND CONTAINED WINDOWS. The house was originally located at 336 Main St. SMITH LIVED IN THE HOUSE FROM 1870-1900. TWO STORY OCTAGONAL HOUSE WITH OPEN VERANDA. HIRAM SMITH WAS A PIONEER SETTLER OF NEENAH WHO BECAME BUSINESS PARTNER WITH D.C. VANOSTRAND IN NUMEROUS ENTERPRIZES, INCLUDING THE NEENAH PAPER MILL, THE NEENAH STOVE WORKS, AND THE MANUFACTURERS NATIONAL BANK, OF WHICH SMITH WAS PRESIDENT. A later owner was William Quinn. 1996- "Built in 1852, this two-story, brick, octagonal residence with a modern, gabled, two-story rear wing currently houses the Neenah Historical Society. Originally constructed for Hiram J. Smith, this structure features a wraparound porch. A smaller rear porch shelters the gabled wing's west side entrance. A wide wooden frieze with carved brackets runs beneath the roof's eave. Most windows feature four-over-four light sash examples, and some openings carry wooden shutters." -"Main St Overpass: Neenah, WI", WisDOT#4993-00-70, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd., (1996).
