Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. An iron clad building was located on this site by 1895, and was used as a blacksmith and wood shop. By 1901 the building was noted as a structure with a stone veneer. The first story of the building has been regrettably altered but the fine stone second story remains. The rock faced stone is laid in regular courses with a subtle banded effect created by alteration of larger and smaller courses. Thin pilasters, of the same material, rise from either side of the central windows to the shaped parapet. Simple capitals are placed at the level of the entablature. This commercial building is similar to the Brehm Building (300 W. Main Street WK 78/8). |
