Additional Information:THIS TWO STORY GREEK REVIVAL HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1849. (SEE BIB. REF. A). IT FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, A BRICK EXTERIOR, A WOOD AND STONE TRIM, AND AN ASPHALT SHINGLED GABLE ROOF. STONE LINTELS AND SILLS DISTINGUISH THE SIX-OVER-SIX WINDOWS ON THE SECOND STORY AND THE TWO-OVER-TWO WINDOWS ON THE FIRST. THE RESIDENCE IS IN GOOD CONDITION. PROJECTING FORWARD ON THE FACADE IS A PORCH; TUSCAN COLUMNS SUPPORT ITS SHED ROOF AND BALUSTRADED RAILINGS ADD DECORATIVE DETAIL. THE RESIDENCE IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

INDIVIDUALS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DWELLING AND THE DATES OF THEIR ASSOCIATION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: CURTIS BEECH, FROM 1850 TO 1868; JOHN W. SHERWOOD, FROM 1871 TO 1885; MRS. S.D. TERRILL IN 1890; LAURA COBB IN 1895; AND GEORGE LINDSEY AND HIS HEIRS, FROM 1905 TO 1925. Beech, a native of New York, came to Mineral Point in 1836. He operated a business in town for several years before he entered mining. Beech and his partner, W.J. Tilley, mined and smelted copper. [I]
