NOTES
Additional Information:Architectural Description:

419 East Main Street is a three bay commercial vernacular building showing Italianate details. The false mansard roof (parapet) appears to be original. Denticulation and brackets highlight the cornice. A rectangular, projecting and brakceted oriel window contributes to the residential feeling of the clapboarded second story. The first story has been altered and clad in brick. The west elevation wall has been sided. Other construction features of the building include a rectangular shaped plan confiugration, a clapboard and brick exterior, a wood trim and a flat roof. The tavern/bar is in good condition.

Historical Background:

This wood frame Temperance Saloon was constructed between 1887 and 1892, and was attached to the brick building next door (DA 40/35). [B]. In 1898 the building was just a saloon, and in 1904 it was run by R. H . Robinson and John Zerwes. In 1912 the occupant is selling "soft drinks." [B]. Carl Ellingson operated a Cigar and Billiards establishment along with a saloon in 1915. [A]. In 1926, the building is listed as a store. [B]. Currently, this building seems to serve both commercial and residential needs, and may have done so historically.

Formerly Roger & Sally's Bar.

August 2013: Canvas awnings added, paint refreshed; no other visible changes.

August 2019: Appearance unchanged
