NOTES
Additional Information:THIS ONE STORY SERVICE STATION/GAS STATION WAS BUILT IN 1937. (SEE BIB. REF. A). IT FEATURES AN IRREGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, A STONE EXTERIOR AND A FLAT ROOF. THIS BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED ON THE FORMER SITE OF THE STONE IVERY BUILDING, WHICH WAS CONSTRUCTED IN 1865. THE SERVICE STATION IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

THIS BUILDING WAS HISTORICALLY KNOWN AS THE SHELL GAS STATION AND GARAGE, AND AS THE GEORGE PHILLIPS BUILDING. (SEE BIB. REF. B). IT WAS USED AS A FILLING STATION IN 1937. (SEE BIB. REF. A).

THE BUILDING WAS DESIGNATED LOCALLY, BECOMING PART OF THE MINERAL POINT LANDMARKS DISTRICT IN 1972.

2012- "The original two story building, a harness shop, was replaced by a gas station in 1936. In 2006 the gas station was extensively reconfigured with several original architectural details removed and others added. The stone wall marking the corner of the property, the street clock, and the plaza in front of the building with its prairie plantings date from the 2006 remodeling."
